Tot Mom #7

Jocelyn & Joshua — Love to Learn

Jillian — Brown Eyed Girl

Jocelyn was born and raised in California and moved to Florida when she was 15. She earned her teaching degree from Florida Atlantic University.  Go Owls! Her husband Greg attended the University of Florida and is a die hard Gators fan. They met after college while working at a restaurant. When Greg walked in to apply for a job, Jocelyn stated, “I call him — he’s mine!” That was it folks. They began dating and have been married now for 8 years. Wanting a change, they decided to move to Charlotte and have been living here for 5 years. Before taking a year off of work to stay home with her babies, Jocelyn taught grades 3 and 5 at Huntersville Elementary. She loves being at home with her tots and cherishes every day with them as they play, go to parks, and engage in learning activities. During her down time, she enjoys shopping, drinking a glass of wine, and reading books to discuss with her book club. Her all time favorite hobby, though, is surfing the net. She could spend hours searching for great recipes and learning activities to do with her children. Jocelyn is a unique mommy who turns every moment into a teaching moment.

Joshua is 3 1/2 years old and enjoys attending day care with Reese (Tot Mom #8), one of his best friends. He likes to build things and play outside. His mommy mentioned that he is “all boy”. Running, jumping, and laughing with friends are a high priority on this tot’s list. He also enjoys Montessori play, so mommy sets up many activities to play with him. Believe it or not, Joshua likes to cook. He is actually going to be enrolled in a cooking class this summer for young children. That is amazing! Jillian, on the other hand, is only 8 months old, so she still sits quietly and watches the big kids play. She is one of the most beautiful babies I have ever seen, with her coal black hair and olive skin. Joshua and Jillian are so cute and you can see the happiness exude from their big brown eyes.

The hardest thing about being a tot mom for Jocelyn is staying consistent and making sure she follows through. Setting limits and teaching her tots to share is important, yet difficult sometimes to carry out. The best thing, though, are the conversations she has with Joshua. As she climbs into bed with him to snuggle, he tells her how much he loves her and he misses her when she is away. These tots love their mommy so much and I have to say, being consistent works!
